Inspired by the changing seasons and weather systems in the landscapes close to home in North Dorset, my paintings are an exploration of the colours and shapes I have interpreted. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the essence of a landscape through simplifying forms and abstracting colours.
“Intuitive mark making, I don’t set out to reproduce an exact copy of the subject matter. Exploration is the key aspect of my work, producing a sense of excitement with colour relationships and interactions of mark making alongside shape and form. Gestural paint strokes, a delicate placement of a single colour to denote an area of light, enjoying the unknown of how the finished piece will look.”
